Hineamaru Ropati

Ngāti Hine

Hineamaru has worked in all sectors of our communities, locally nationally and internationally specialising in building capacity, programme development and delivery.

A game changer in many sectors that assists in revitalizing our Reo, our Tikanga and enhancing our Wellbeing in life.

Whānau

Between herself and her husband Aubrey (Ngāti Ranginui / Hamoa) they have 6 children ranging between the ages of 21 and 33. (3 Tane / 3 Kotiro) and mokopuna that dominates their lifestyle with goodness and aroha. This is what drives her passion and commitment to making this world a better and more sustainable world to live in.

Papatuanuku Kokiri Marae (Mangere)

Under the leadership of the Late Whaea Mere Knight, Betty Hunapo and many Kaumatua she was able to assist in building the infrastructure of Papatuanuku Kokiri Marae on the smell of an oily rag. Today this Marae is renowned for its diversity and their unconditional values of manaakitanga. It is known as “A pounamu among the rocks”, the centre of Mangere, the capital of fast food. Quietly but surely making a silent impact on the political world as they oppose Genetically Modified substances entering our food sources, Pollution ruining our waterways, and the impacts of the impurities entering our airways through petrol and diesel emissions. Hua Parakore is the Pou that guides our Marae in every Kaupapa we deliver for our whanau.

Te Waka Kai Ora (Indigenous Global Organization)

Hineamaru has met so many people from around the world that share the same values of Food Sovereignty and the Tikanga Values of Hua Parakore. One of the many highlights was when she was invited to present at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAG) United Nations Conference in Cusco, South America 2014 on behalf of Te Waka Kai Ora. And travelling the world under the guiding lens of Percy Tipene.
